Amid terror alerts that militants would strike at many places across the country before the Republic Day, the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport today received an anonymous call threatening to blow up the airport.
"An anonymous person called up the joint control centre around 5 pm saying that the airport was going to be blown up before February 2. The caller spoke in Hindi and the call was non-specific and came from an unknown number," an airport official said.
The police are investigating the call records, the spokesman added, but refused to share any further details.
"The Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) of the airport reviewed the call at 7.30 pm and concluded that it was non-specific," the spokesperson said further.
When contacted an airport police official confirmed that his station has been intimated about the terror threat, but refused to share more information.
DCP Virendra Mishra also confirmed that there was "information call" at the airport.
