Municipal Commissioner Sitaram Kunte said this evening that the procedure would be carried out from September 1 to 28.
"The cloud-seeding will be done in all the catchment areas which supply water to Mumbai, but mainly at Vaitarna and Bhatsa, where rainfall has been low," Kunte said.
The civic body was confident that the method would work, he said.
A presentation in this regard was made by Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) to the group leaders of various parties a few days ago. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) will also be aiding the civic body in the project.
"The total expenditure of the project is Rs 12 lakh. An Israeli company, which will be assisting the civic body, will be paid Rs 6.5 lakh," he added.
