Mumbai police today arrested a security guard for killing another guard who worked at the office of filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya in Prbhadevi in central Mumbai early this month.
According to Dadar police, Mehdi Imam (76) was posted as a security guard at Barjatya's office by a private security agency. He was found dead in the office pantry on March 11.
He lived in the same building. The body, in a decomposed state, was found two days after he was reported missing.
"We learnt that another security guard, Totan Biswas (35), used to visit Imam every Sunday and he had been missing since March 10," said a police officer.
After learning that Biswas had gone to his native place in West Bengal, a police team was sent there. He was picked up from his aunt's village near the Indo-Bangladesh border on Saturday.
Biswas allegedly told police that he had gone to Imam's place after drinking liquor, and asked for Imam's phone. When Imam refused, Biswas got angry and strangled him and fled.
