A decision to this effect was today taken by Mumbai Cricket Association's Technical Committee, which discussed and recommended this to the Managing Committee, said a media release from MCA Vice-President Ravi Savant.
The Technical Committee proposed the name of India 'A' coach Lalchand Rajput to take over the reins for the remainder of the season comprising T20 and one-day games, it said.
The defending champions were knocked out from the premier domestic tournament at the quarter-final stage at their home turf by Maharashtra early this week.
Mumbai were eliminated from the competition when they lost to arch-rivals Maharashtra by eight wickets after taking a handy 122-run lead at the Wankhede Stadium.
Further, the Technical Committee decided to recommend appointment of a new selection committee for next season, but with the power to select the Mumbai One day and T20 teams for the current season itself.
