Nafisa stays with her seven-year-old child in Dombivali in the neighbouring Thane district.
Official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Syed Akbaruddin, has also tweeted, "Confirm that Irfan Jaffery was released and is with Sudanese authorities. Will be in Khartoum tomorrow. R Mission in touch with all."
Irfan, who has been working with Trigyn Technologies Ltd for last five years as an IT engineer, used to visit home twice in a year.
On March 11, a group of five armed men allegedly abducted Irfan from outside a Turkish restaurant. Since then he had been kept hostage in a tribal area of Darfur.
