State Higher and Technical Education Minister Rajesh Tope informed the House that six acre land has been given by Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) for administrative and academic buildings.
In 2012-13, Rs 5 crore provision was made and in 2013-14, Rs 6.5 crore has been provided. The construction work is expected to be completed in nine months and management courses will be started first followed by nano technology, bio- technology, food processing and preservative courses.
The Mumbai University has made available Rs 18.22 crore for filling up administrative vacancies.
Baba Siddique (Congress) and Jitendra Awhad (NCP) demanded that students elections be started again to which the minister said he would take up the matter with the CM and Deputy CM.

Awhad wondered why government engineering colleges were not set up after the formation of Maharashtra state in 1960.
He said 22 acre of land was available in Kalwa in Thane district reserved for the purpose.
