The decision to form the committee comes a day after the Jharkhand High Court directed the state government to address the problems of farmers belonging to Nagari village and compensate them sympathetically in lieu of the land acquired to set up educational hub at Nagari, about 20 km from here.

Other members of the committee include Revenue Secretary N N Pandey, Finance Secretary Sukhdev Singh, Ranchi Commissioner Surendra Singh, and Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Binay Choubey.

Munda has asked the committee to submit its report as soon as possible.

The state government had decided to utilise the 227 acres in Nagari to build higher educational institutions including IIM, IIT and a law university. However, villagers have been protesting the use of fertile land for building the educational hub.

On July 4, the boundary wall had been pulled down and Superintendent of Police (Ranchi Rural) A V Minz had been one of the several injured persons in the clash between police and villagers.
