IAS officer Tukaram Mundhe today took charge as Chairman and Managing Director of the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML), the state-run city transport utility.
Mundhe was last week transferred here from Navi Mumbai, where he held the post of municipal commissioner.
During his stint as the civic chief of the satellite city, the bureaucrat hogged limelight for demolition drives against illegal constructions.
Late last year, the Navi Mumbai civic body passed a no confidence motion against Mundhe, but the Maharashtra government overruled the decision.
While taking charge of the new assignment, the IAS officer said he would work towards improving PMPML's bus services and make them commuter-centric.
Mundhe said emphasis will be given to strengthen the transport utility. "Our main aim would be to give good services to commuters." he said.
