Municipal body vice-chairman's name removed from NFSA list

A day after the name of the vice-chairman of local municipal body was found in the list of beneficiaries of National Food Security Act, three civic body staff have been suspended by the district administration here today on charge of dereliction of duty.
Community organiser Suchismita Jena and tax collectors Srikant Barik and Gokul Chandra Dash were suspended after they were found to have neglected in thoroughly cross checking the beneficiary list, officials said.
A special squad has been constituted to detect discrepancies and to exclude ineligible beneficiaries from published list, they added.
Jayanti Lenka, the vice-chairman Kendrapara urban local body had clarified that she had voluntarily withdrawn myself from the beneficiary list after her name had figured in it.

Inclusion of ineligible beneficiaries in National Food Security Act, including corporators of Cuttack Municipal Corporation some of them of the ruling BJD has posed an embarrassment to government in Odisha.
