In a bid to ensure proper sanitation in the national capital, Delhi BJP President Satish Upadhyay today said that all three municipal corporations here would organise a fortnight-long campaign from September 6 to 20 for cleaning of all unoccupied land.
He said during the "no man land and back lane cleaning fortnight", municipal corporations would ensure cleaning of unoccupied land like vacant plots, area around railway tracks and under flyovers and areas where garbage is often dumped while stress would be laid on the sanitation in unauthorised and resettlement colonies.
"All sanitary inspectors, sanitary superintendent, superintendent engineer and zonal deputy commissioners shall have to carry out surprise checks on sanitary drives under their areas and ensure at least 2 colonies are taken up everyday under the drive," a statement released by the party said.
It also said that senior officials of municipal corporations would carry out surprise checks in their areas and if poor sanitation is found, stern disciplinary action would be taken against the erring staff.
"We shall not accept any shortcomings in municipal services in Delhi and shall work with full transparency," Upadhyay said.
