ACB Deputy Superintendent of Police SVV Prasad Rao told PTI that the commissioner had demanded over Rs one lakh for clearing the bills from a civic contractor.
The bribe amount was later settled to Rs 1,10,000, he said.
The contractor had approached the commissioner and lodged a complaint in this connection. Based on the complaint a trap was laid.
"When the contractor went to pay Rs 1,10,000 to Pramod Kumar in his chamber today, the ACB sleuths caught the commissioner accepting the bribe. He was later arrested," Rao said.
