A member of a gang, allegedly wanted in a murder case since 2014, has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district, police said today.
Acting on a tip-off, Rahish was nabbed in a joint operation by the police and a SWAT team after a brief encounter in Shergarh area last night, said Mathura Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Babloo Kumar.
The accused was an active member of gang, which allegedly killed four members of a rival gang's family in April 2014. An FIR was filed against 11 people, nine of whom had been awarded life imprisonment, the SSP said.
Rahish was evading arrest since the incident, he said, adding that the last accused in the murder case would be arrested shortly.
