Cuttack sub-divisional judicial magistrate (SDJM) Abhilash Palei rejected the request after defence counsel opposed the police move saying his client was sick and not strong enough to undergo the rigorous brain mapping and psycho-analysis procedures.
The accused, Paresh Mohapatra, himself also refused to undergo the tests when he was asked for his consent by the magistrate.
The police had also sought the court's permission to put the accused under lie-detection test. But the court's judgement was kept reserved on the procedures.
Subsequently, with the help of six others, the accused persons had disposed of the body by burning it secretly in a city crematorium. Police have also arrested the six.
Although, Paresh had admitted to his crime during police interrogation and his statements had been recorded under Section 161 of CrPC, the police were unable to ascertain the motive behind the killing.
