Neeraj alias Nikku of Ulhana Madina village in Sonepat, who was out on bail and living in a rented accommodation on Ladhout Road in the city, was targeted by the assailants when he was playing badminton this morning, police said.
The assailants came in a car and fired several rounds at him from a close range, reportedly killing him on the spot, they said, adding that the killers then slit his throat with a sharp-edge weapon before fleeing the spot.
On information, Rohtak SP Rajesh Duggal rushed to the spot, along with other senior police officers, and sent the body to PGIMS for a post-mortem.
"Neeraj was accused in four murder cases and was out on bail," the SP said, an investigation has begun to identify the killers and nab them.
