Murder case transferred to Madurai Sessions court
Press Trust of India Madurai Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court today ordered transfer of the murder case in which former AIADMK minister T Inbatamizhan and his brothers are allegedly involved, from Srivilliputhur Principal District Sessions court to the local court after Inbatamizhan submitted that he had no objection to it.
Justice CT Selvam passed the order on a petition filed by Sundari, wife of Annadurai Selvan,a DMK functionary, who was allegedly murdered by the AIADMK functionaries in 2007.
The petitioner alleged that more than 10 persons including Inbatamizhan, and his brothers - Veeraselvam, Analagan and Thangamangani - were involved in the murder. Inbatamizhan had a strong influence with the local police while Analagan is an advocate and Thangamangani a councillor, it was contended.
The former minister is also close to prosecutors, the petitioner said. Besides the atmosphere in Srivilliputhur was not conducive for a fair trial and so the case should be shifted to some other court, the petitioner said.
The judge recorded the submission of Inbatamizhan and transferred the case to Madurai Principal District Sessions court.
