A murder convict, who was serving life imprisonment and fled to Kerala while being out on parole, has been arrested when he came to meet his family here, police said today.
Roshan (40), a resident of Himmat Puri in Mayur Vihar, had fled to Kerala while being out on parole, and was living on an assumed identity.
"He came to Delhi yesterday to meet his family members and was arrested," said Ashok Chand, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime).
Roshan was sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted in a murder case in 2010.
"He came out on parole in 2011 and had appealed against his sentence in the Delhi High court. His appeal was rejected on May 28 this year and he was directed to go to jail for serving his remaining sentence. However, he absconded," said Chand.
Yesterday, police got a tip off about him coming to Azadpur Subzi Mandi, following which a trap was laid and Roshan was apprehended.
