The prime accused in the murder of businessman Arun Kumar Tikoo (67) had escaped on April 10 from the police jeep in which he was being brought from a court to local police station. He was later re-arrested at Churchgate station.
After his escape, Palande met stock broker Gautam Vora, who had booked a hotel room for him in south Mumbai.
"Palande asked Vora to go to Oshiwara and somehow get (his wife) Simran Sood out of the police station as she was being questioned in connection with the disappearance of Delhi- based aspiring producer Karankumar Kakkad (later found murdered)," said a police officer.
At that time, police did not know that Sood, a model and small-time actor, was Palande's wife. Vora went to Oshiwara police station but did not succeed in his attempt to bring Sood along with him, he said.
Palande wanted to escape to Thailand along with his wife, police said.
Sood, who hails from Punjab, was arrested on April 12 in connection with the Kakkad case.

Subsequently, Palande's name surfaced in Kakkad's murder case as well. Probe revealed that Palande, along with his associates Dhananjay Shinde and Manoj Gajkosh, first murdered the aspiring film producer at the latter's rented flat in suburban Amboli on the night of March 6 and then chopped off his body into pieces to destroy evidence.
Shinde and Gajkosh are currently behind bars in the Kakkad and Tikku murder cases.
On April 23, Vora was arrested for giving shelter to Palande after he escaped from police custody.
