Music cafe with live 'baul' performance and European cuisine
Press Trust of India Kolkata Blending folk music with arts, Ritwik Ghatak's city had its own music cafe, on the lines of Paris, with 'bauls' performing in presence of film directors, musicians and fashion designers.
'Shukno Lanka' and 'Hanuman.Com' director Gourav Pandey said, "This is a true amalgamation where Indian music and cuisine are used to wow the entire world."
"From the food hub of Park Street, which served cuisine only, a new concept of fusion cusine, blending music-showbiz and good food and ambience is emerging and the new hotspot is the Hindustan Park-Lansdown Road-Purna Das stretch frequented by the performing artistes and actors and writers," Gaurav said.
"Whenever I will be in the city, me and my family and friends will be frequenting this 'Jalsaghar' where we can catch up with the other Bengali film compatriots," Gaurav, who came to the place with German wife, sister-in-law and daughter Sayonee who turned up in the Iceland-centric film on digital merger, said.
Costume designer Anandi Ghosh, having turned up in Rituparna Ghosh's Satyanewsi as well as father Goutam Ghosh's Yatra starring Rekha, said "the lounge atmosphere, with past master's paintings adorning the walls, and the baul music is electrifying. The black and white floral marble decor are seen in old zamindar households. This place will be a hit among my friends."
A spokesman from 'The Bistro', specialising in European and Continental fusion, said "Just like the cafes in Paris boulevard, where music mingle with laughter, food and discourse, we will be hosting live musical shows here on evening hours during film and music launch events.
