The Muslim community in Nagaland today celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr by offering namaz at Eidgahs in Kohima and Dimapur districts.
They also gave alms to the poor and exchanged gifts with their near and dear ones on the occasion of the festival, marking the end of the Holy Month of Ramzan.
People of the Muslim community gathered at the Local Ground here to offer prayers.
Extending his greetings on the occasion, Nagaland Governor P B Acharya hoped that the occasion will usher in good will and harmony and strengthen the values of composite society everywhere.
The festival of Eid-ul-Fitr marks the culmination of the Holy Month of Ramzan, the month of prayers, blessings and forgiveness, the governor said in his message.
It reminds every member of the community their obligations and responsibilities towards other members of the society, especially the poor and downtrodden for peaceful coexistence and equitable progress of the state and the nation, he stated.
