Mustard seed prices softened by Rs 17 to Rs 4,254 per quintal in futures trade Tuesday as participants cut their exposure in tune with a weak trend at the physical markets.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, mustard seed for delivery in November slackened by Rs 17 or 0.40 per cent to Rs 4,254 per quintal, having an open interest of 7,670 lots.
Also, the contracts for delivery in October contracts eased by Rs 9 or 0.21 per cent to Rs 4,205 per quintal, with an open interest of 74,650 lots.
Marketmen said the fall in mustard seed prices in futures trade was mostly due to trimming of positions by participants amid a weak trend at the spot markets due to slackened demand against mounting stocks.
