Mustard seed futures rise on spot demand
Press Trust of India New Delhi Mustard seed prices rose by Rs 27 to Rs 4,081 per quintal in future trading today on the back of widening of positions by participants amid strong demand from stockists and oil mills in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, mustard seed for delivery in far-month May another gained Rs 27, or 0.67 per cent, to Rs 4,081 per quintal, having an open interest of 12,380 lots.
Likewise, mustard seed for delivery in April month was up by Rs 23, or 0.57 per cent, to Rs 4,029 per quintal in an open interest of 44,970 lots.
Marketmen said apart from tight supplies, strong demand in the spot markets led to the rise in mustard seed prices at futures trade here.
