Marketmen said expansion of positions by speculators, taking positive cues from the spot markets where prices rose on the back of festive season demand, mainly helped mustard seed prices to rise in futures trade.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, mustard seed for delivery in most-active September contracts gained Rs 12 or 0.32 per cent to Rs 3,818 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 57,250 lots.
