Marketmen attributed gains in mustard seed prices at the futures trading to a firming trend at the spot markets following tight supplies due to untimely rains in growing regions.
Besides, increased demand from oil millers too supported the upside in mustard seed prices, they said.
In futures trading at the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, mustard seed for delivery in May spurted by Rs 52, or 1.33 per cent to Rs 3,972 per quintal, with an open interest of 29,840 lots.
