Mustard seed futures up on spot sentiments

Mustard seed prices went up by Rs 54 to Rs 4,065 per quintal in futures trade today after participants enlarged their positions amidst upbeat trend at the physical markets on restricted arrivals from growing regions, coupled with strong demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, mustard seed to be delivered this month flared up by Rs 54 or 1.35 per cent to Rs 4,065 per quintal, with an open interest of 47,970 lots.

Mustard seed, to be delivered in May also improved by Rs 54 or 1.33 per cent to Rs 4,108 per quintal, with the business turnover of 54,230 open lots.

According to marketmen, the rise in mustard seed prices at futures trade was supported by raising of bets by participants backed up by a firm trend at the physical markets on restricted arrivals from growing belts against firm demand.
