Muted demand drags down arhar, moong

Prices of arhar and moong drifted up to Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale market today owing to slackened demand from retailers against sufficient stocks following pick up in supplies.
However, other pulses moved in a tight range in limited deals, settled at last levels.
Traders said easing demand from retailers at current levels against adequate stocks position on higher supplies from growing regions mainly kept pressure on arhar and moong prices.
In the national capital, arhar remained under selling pressure and prices dropped by another Rs 100 to Rs 7,700 per quintal. Arhar dal dara variety followed suit and eased by a similar margin to Rs 11,000-13,000 per quintal.
Moong and its dal chilka local also declined by Rs 50 each to Rs 6,950-7,550 and Rs 7,550-7,950 per quintal respectively. Its dal dhoya local and best quality too shed Rs 50 each at Rs 7,950-8,450 and Rs 8,450-8,650 per quintal.
