Zinc prices softened by 0.29 per cent to Rs 170.25 per kg in futures market today as speculators trimmed their positions, taking negative cues from spot market on easing demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in June traded lower by 50 paise, or 0.29 per cent, to Rs 170.25 per kg, in a business turnover of 406 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in May shed 35 paise, or 0.21 per cent, to Rs 169.90 per kg in 2,966 lots.
Market analysts said offloading of positions by traders due to subdued demand from consuming industries in the spot market, mainly influenced zinc prices at futures trade.
