The victim asserted that she was gangraped by five persons in Phugana village and demanded that the guilty be held accountable and punished at the earliest, the prosecution said.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Narender Kumar had earlier rejected the closure report of SIT in which it had given a clean chit to five persons accused of raping a woman during 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots.
Kumar had reopened the case, which the SIT had closed citing lack of evidence, and fixed February 4 for recording statement of victim woman. The court ordered reopening of the case on the basis of petition filed by the 30-year-old woman.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the riots had found the involvement of 25 people in six gangrape cases. All 25 have been arrested.
More than 60 people were killed and 40,000 displaced during riots in Muzaffarnagar district and its adjoining areas in September 2013.
