MVI, another person killed in accident

Two persons including the Motor Vehicles Inspector (MVI) of Purnia district were killed when a truck rammed into their vehicle this morning.
Purnia Superintendent of Police (SP) Ajit Kumar Satyarthi said the incident happened near Baisa Kali Temple under Jalalgarh police station, when MVI Sushil Kumar Pandey was checking vehicles with his staff. The other deceased has been identified as Chandan Kumar.
"A truck came and rammed the vehicle in which Pandey was sitting with his staff and driver. The vehicle got damaged very badly and had to be cut open to rescue them. The injured were rushed to Purnia Sadar Hospital, where Pandey and Kumar died," Satyarthi said.

The SP said the truck driver fled with his vehicle towards Kishanganj and the police is searching for him. Purnia Civil Surgeon S N Jha said the injuries of Pandey and Kumar were so serious that they died within minutes of their arrival at the hospital.
