The 39-year-old actor's last release saw him in a new avatar. His look was designed by his celebrity hair stylist wife Adhuna.
"My kids were very excited about my look in the film. When I chopped off my hair, my younger daughter really got upset. She used to play with my long hair," Akhtar said.
The biopic, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, was well received by the audience and Farhan earned rave reviews for his portrayal of The Flying Sikh.
The 'Rock On!' star, who was in the Capital to be a part of Royal Enfield event, gifted the bike that he rode in the movie to a lucky winner of "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" contest. Hamininder Singh from Srinagar won the contest.

Farhan said he was happy that Milkha Singh liked the film and his performance.
Recouting his experience of shooting the biopic, Farhan said, "There were meny memorable moments on the sets. I remember we were shooting a race and Milkhaji happened to be there. It was a surreal experience because I was in his get-up."
Farhan has also directed movies like "Dil Chahta Hai", "Lakshya" and "Don".
