First Vice President of Myanmar Sai Mauk Kham arrived in India today on a five-day visit during which he will hold talks with top leadership here with an aim to further enhancing bilateral ties on a range of areas.
He arrived in the religious city of Gaya and will come here tomorrow.
Kham is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Ministers and senior officials.
He will have meetings with President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, an External Affairs Ministry release said.
He will visit places of historical, cultural and economic importance both in and outside Delhi.
The visit is the latest in a series of high-level contacts between India and Myanmar over the past few years.
Prime Minister Modi had visited Myanmar in November last year where he attended the ASEAN-India Summit and the East Asia Summit.
