Myanmarese national held in Bihar

A Myanmarese national was arrested here today for not possessing a passport or any valid travel document, police said.

Abdul Rahman (33) claimed to be a Myanmarese national, but no document establishing the same was found in his possession, following which he was arrested from Kochadhaman police station area in the district, SP, Kishanganj, Rajiv Mishra said.

Mishra, however, said an Aadhaar card and a voter ID card issued in favour of Rahman, showing his address in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh, were found in his possession, which have been seized.

He said a case has been registered against him under the Foreigners Act.

During interrogation, Rahman claimed that he had immigrated to Manipur in 2011 from where he shifted to Bahraich three years later, got married to a local resident, the SP said, adding, he subsequently got the Aadhaar card and voter ID card in his name.
