Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) or Mizo student's federation would organise a rally on Friday to protest the state government's "inaction" to solve the border dispute with neighbouring Assam, MZP president L Ramdinliana Renthlei said Wednesday.
He accused the state government of "soft pedalling" the issue of solving the border disputes.
"We sent an ultimatum to the state government to construct 'Zofate Chawlhbuk' at Zophai on or before July 17, and the failure to do so resulted in going ahead with our plan to take out our rally," he told media persons here.
The border dispute between Mizoram and Assam has been a long pending issue.
In March 2018, tension erupted in Zophai area near the Mizoram-Assam border when Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) members attempted to construct a hut inside the land of Ch Chhunga the first chief minister of Mizoram but were prevented from doing so by Assam Police.
The MZP president accused the state government of not take any action when Assam officials renovated a building near Vairengte on July six.
He urged the Mizoram government to take immediate action and ensure resumption of parleys with Assam government to solve the boundary dispute.
