The Naga civil societies and the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) under the aegis of Naga Hoho have decided to meet Karbi civil societies and peace forum to have people to people dialogue to bring the situation in Karbi Anglong district, which witnessed clashes, in Assam to normalcy.
A decision to this effect was taken during a consultative meeting of civil societies, including Nagaland Baptist Church Council, Naga Mothers' Association, Naga Council Dimapur, Naga Students' Federation, Dimapur Naga Students' Union and Naga Peoples' Movement for Human Rights under the aegis of Naga Hoho, an apex body of tribal organisations in the state.
The meeting was held yesterday in the Unity Hall of Naga Council Dimapur, a statement issued by Naga Hoho president P. Chuba Ozukum and General Secretary Mutsikhoyu Yhobu said.
The Naga civil societies also resolved to appeal to the Assam government to ensure relief materials were given to all displaced persons and ex-gratia payment to the families of the deceased.
While deliberating on the larger political issues in regard to Karbi-Naga imbroglio, it was resolved to address the issues politically in the near future.
The meeting further resolved that henceforth, individuals and different Naga organisations should not meet the Karbi civil societies and others separately without the knowledge of the joint Naga civil societies and that all types of relief materials should be handed over collectively.
