Nagal wins ITF singles title

Putting up a strong show, a consistent Sumit Nagal won his second ITF men's singles title after outplaying Ronit Singh Bisht 6-3 6-4 in the summit clash, here today.
The junior Wimbledon doubles title winner, Nagal raced to a 3-0 lead as Ronit encountered a groin problem and called for the Physio.
Soon Ronit was in his elements and began to serve more purposefully and had a little more punch in his ground-strokes. He did not drop his serve but courtesy a double break, Sumit closed the set in his favour easily.
In the second set, Ronit played forcefully moving Sumit from corner to corner to hold serves. Sumit countered him with strong forehands and excellent agility and the score were levelled 3-3.
In an exciting 7th game, Ronit broke Sumit but lost his serve immediately and scores were level 4-4. Sumit dominated and broke Ronit to lead 5-4 and proceeded to complete the formality of serving and closing out the set and match.
Sumit gained 18 ATP points and a cash prize of USD 1440 (Rs.93,000), while Bisht got 12 points and USD 848 (Rs.53,000).
