The government is expecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to grace the inaugural function of the 10-day long Hornbill Festival, also known as the 'Festival of Festivals' commencing December 1, coinciding with 51st Statehood Day celebration.
The ten-day festivities would not only showcase the rich tradition and culture of the Naga tribes, but also various other events for the young and old alike, said Commissioner and Secretary for Tourism Government of Nagaland, Himato Zhimomi while addressing a press conference at the Directorate of Tourism here today.
The state is expecting about 30,000 domestic tourists from other parts of the country and about five thousand foreign tourists apart from over 2 lakh local tourists.
The 10-day long festival will have a special addition termed the Great Hornbill Adventure Trip (GHAT) which is aimed at showing the tourists interiors of Nagaland, beyond Kisama and Kohima, and also to make the festival more inclusive.
The Hornbill Festival of Nagaland is one of the biggest cultural extravaganzas in the North East.
