With one more person succumbing to the injuries, the death toll in a clash between two groups at Dangawas village of Nagaur district in Rajasthan has risen to six, that included five Dalits, police said today.
Ganesh Ram Meghwal was among 12 injured in a property related dispute. He was admitted to Jawahar Lal Nehru (JLN) hospital in Ajmer where he succumbed to the injuries yesterday, they said.
His family members have refused to take the body and have started a dharna outside the hospital demanding from the government to call a CBI inquiry team, SHO Ajmer Kotwali Jitendra Gangwani said.
"Postmortem could not be conducted so far. His family members and relatives in around 300 number have started a dharna and efforts are on to pacify them," the officer said today.
The incident had occurred near Merta town on May 14 when two persons, Kanaram Jat and Ratna Ram Meghwal, and their supporters armed with sharp-edged weapons and guns, clashed with each other over a property of land in possession of Meghwal while Kanaram also staked a claim on it.
Four persons including two Dalits died that day while fifth man succumbed to injuries at the JLN hospital on last Saturday.
The state government has already recommended a CBI probe into the incident by forwarding a letter to the Centre.
Nagaur collector Rajan Vishan said that the district administration and police have restored the situation in Dangwas and round the clock security arrangements have been made.
