Naidu elected as leader of Telugu Desam Legislature Party

N Chandrababu Naidu has been unanimously elected as leader of the Telugu Desam Legislature Party (TDLP) to eventually become the first Chief Minister of the residual state of Andhra Pradesh.
Senior legislator K E Krishna Murthy proposed Naidu's name for the TDLP chief's post while another senior MLA Kodela Sivaprasada Rao seconded it, even as other Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLAs of the party also seconded Naidu's name, party sources said here today.
The TDP won 102 seats in the 175-member new assembly of Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu is scheduled to take oath as chief minister at a public function at Nagarjuna Nagar between Vijayawada and Guntur at 7.27 pm on June 8.
Naidu has been the longest-serving chief minister of (united) Andhra Pradesh from September 1995 to May 2004 and also the longest serving Leader of Opposition from 2004 to 2014.
Now that Andhra Pradesh has been bifurcated, the TDLP meeting was held for the first time in the temple town of Tirupati that falls under the Rayalaseema region as swearing-in ceremony would be held in coastal Andhra.
