Senior legislator K E Krishna Murthy proposed Naidu's name for the TDLP chief's post while another senior MLA Kodela Sivaprasada Rao seconded it, even as other Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLAs of the party also seconded Naidu's name, party sources said here today.
The TDP won 102 seats in the 175-member new assembly of Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu is scheduled to take oath as chief minister at a public function at Nagarjuna Nagar between Vijayawada and Guntur at 7.27 pm on June 8.
Now that Andhra Pradesh has been bifurcated, the TDLP meeting was held for the first time in the temple town of Tirupati that falls under the Rayalaseema region as swearing-in ceremony would be held in coastal Andhra.
