Naidu reviews welfare schemes for women, children

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today directed officials to submit a detailed action plan to reduce infant mortality and maternal mortality rates and also malnutrition among women and children in the State.
The Chief Minister reviewed various programmes and schemes implemented for women and children in the state with officials of Women and Child Welfare Department here today.
He asked the officials of Medical and Health, Women and Child Welfare and Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) to work in convergence with others while planning and delivering their services, an official release said here.
Naidu advised SERP officials to create awareness among women on various programmes and schemes implemented for them. He also asked them to prepare programmes for enhancing the income levels of their families.
B Rajasekhar, CEO, SERP explained that Rs 3,000 crore has been spent on poverty eradication programmes and empowerment of women through SERP.
