TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu today attacked Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K Chandrasekhar Rao for his statement that government employees from Andhra Pradesh would not be allowed to step into the new Telangana secretariat.
"The remarks are unbecoming of a person who is set to become the Chief Minister," Chandrababu said in a statement.
As the employees were being reallocated as per the guidelines drafted by the Centre (in the wake of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh), Rao should not have made such a statement based on hearsay, said Naidu, who himself is set to become the Chief Minister of the new state of Andhra Pradesh.
"You have garnered votes and seats by stoking emotions in the name of (statehood) movement. Now you are trying to drive a wedge between brothers and seeking to create permanent animosity. This is highly condemnable," Chandrababu said.
A person who is set to occupy the CM's chair should try to create a cordial atmosphere between the two regions and not talk in a manner that could create a law and order problem, the TDP chief said.
Naidu also promised that TDP would stand by all the government employees and safeguard their interests.
Earlier in the evening, leaders of the AP Non-Gazetted Officers' Association met Naidu and complained about KCR's remarks. The remarks caused a sense of insecurity among the employees hailing from Andhra Pradesh, Association president P Ashok Babu said.
