Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will perform the ground-breaking ceremony (Bhoomi Puja) for the new capital tomorrow, a year after the bifurcation of erstwhile composite state into Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The TDP government has decided to locate the capital in the Vijayawada region on the banks of river Krishna and named it as 'Amaravati' after the historical town in Guntur district.
Aiming to build a "futuristic city", it roped in the Singapore Government for preparing the master plan for the capital.
The Singapore Government has handed over master plans for the capital city and for the capital region and the plan for "seed capital" would be submitted soon.
The State Government has pooled about 33,000 acres for developing the capital city as per its "land pooling" policy.
The ceremony will be performed by Naidu and his wife Bhuvaneswari at 8.49 AM at Mandam Village near the banks of the river Krishna, according to State Agricultural Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao.
