The ashes of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was today immersed in the river Tlawng, the biggest river in Mizoram near Aizawl.
The urn containing the mortal remains of Vajpayee was brought to Aizawl from Delhi by the state BJP unit president Prof. John V Hluna yesterday.
A funeral with full Christian religious honour was held at the BJP state unit office here.
Representatives from the ruling Congress party, Peoples Right to Information and Development Implementation Society of Mizoram (PRISM) party and civil societies also spoke at the function and hailed the former prime minister as a man of development who brought changes to the country and also to the North East.
