Nalco Guru Kelucharan Award to artistes

Eminent dance guru Kishore Kumar Mohanty and noted Odia cine actress Jharana Das would be honoured with the prestigious Nalco Guru Kelucharan Award for 2016 for their outstanding contribution.
The annual award, instituted by Srjan in memory of the revered Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, carries a cash prize of Rs one lakh and a citation.
The 'Nalco Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Yuva Pratibha Samman 2016' would be presented to Rajib Bhattacharya of Kolkata and Madhusmita Mohanty of Bhubaneswar for Odissi dance, P Praveen Kumar of Bengaluru for Bharatanatyam and Rupak Kumar Parida of Bhubaneswar for Odissi music.
The award comprises a cash prize of Rs 25,000 each to four meritorious young artistes in the area of classical dances and Odissi music for outstanding continuous performance, said Srjan Director Ratikant Mohapatra.
A new award 'Nrutya Kala Samman' has been instituted this year to give recognition to long and devoted commitment to the practice and performance of traditional Odissi dance with a cash prize of Rs 30000. The award will be conferred on Madhubrata Satapathy.
The awards will be presented during the five-day Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra festival to be held here between September five to September nine. Renowned artistes from inside and outside the state will perform during the festival.
