Naldehra to be developed as int'l golf destination: HP CM

The famous tourist resort of Naldehra, known for one of the oldest golf courses in the country would be developed as international golf destination, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said today.
"The state government has undertaken an ambitious project for developing eco-tourism park and up gradation of existing properties in this place," he said after laying the foundation stone of Eco-Tourism Park at Naldehra.
The park will be developed with at an outlay of Rs 10.63 crore. The project would be executed jointly by the state tourism department and Tourism Development Corporation with financial assistance from Asian Development Bank.
This golf course would be one of it kinds in north India and the facility of learning the basics of the sport would be available for the visitors. It would go a long way in boosting tourism activities, the Chief Minister said.
Effective steps would be taken to check soil erosion, protection of forest area, besides renovating the existing club house and cottages, Singh said.
The golf course at Naldehra was established in 1905 by the then Viceroy of India Lord Curzon.
