Dean Israelite is directing the film from a screenplay by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz.
The movie re-imagines the story of a group of high schoolers, who use their superpowers to save the world, reported Entertainment Weekly.
The news was shared on the official Instagram page of "Power Rangers", which will hit theaters in 2017.
"It's official! #NaomiScott will play the #PinkRanger in the @PowerRangersMovie! Coming in 2017..."
The 22-year-old "Terra Nova" star tweeted, "I'm freaking out" after the news.
The crime fighters originally hit the air as a TV show in the 90s called "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers", and subsequently inspired other small-screen series.
