Minority Affairs Minister and BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today met India Islamic Cultural Centre President Sirajuddin Qureshi at his office here under the party's 'Sampark for Samarthan' campaign ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Prominent people from various Islamic educational institutes and other fields were also present at the meeting, where Naqvi apprised them about the Narendra Modi government's works "which are aimed at inclusive growth", an official release said.

According to the release, the minister said that "desperate and disappointed evil forces" want to disturb peace in the society but people's commitment to peace and unity will defeat and isolate them.

He said the Modi government is working with commitment to "development with dignity" and "empowerment without discrimination".

Social-communal harmony and tolerance is in the DNA of India. Minorities in India are safe and, socio-religious and constitutional rights of minorities are safer here than any other democratic country in the world, Naqvi said.
