"Conveniently situated for people of the twin cities of Kolkata and Howrah, this hospital is set to be a centre of excellence for Oncology in Eastern India," Narayana Health Zonal Director (East) Deepak Venugopalan said announcing the launch.
The Narayana Health, which took over the Westbank Health and Wellness Institute in Howrah in December last, renamed it as Narayana Superspeciality Hospital to set up a Centre of Excellence in Cancer Care.
"A number of departments in oncology including oncoplastic breast surgery, gynaecology-oncology, haemato-oncology, head-neck surgery, paediatric oncology and pain and palliation oncology have been set up at the institute for the treatment of cancer which calls for multi-disciplinary approach," Venugopalan said.
Dr Ansuman Kar and Dr Jyotirup Goswami said that the multi-disciplinary hospital would have 240 beds, of which 100 beds have been reserved exclusively for cancer patients.
A team of about 90 doctors would take care of the entire operation in the hospital, while 75 other consultants would handle the OPD, they said.
