Senior Congress leader and former union minister V Narayanasamy today charged Prime Minister Narendra Modi with "nurturing corruption and adopting double speak on the issue of eradicating corrupt practices".
Talking to reporters here he said that when Modi assumed office last year, he made a statement that corruption would never be brooked and all those indulging in it would be sacked and dealt with as per provisions of law. But the country had been witnessing occurrences of corrupt practices involving some union ministers and also ministers from BJP ruled states.
"What action has Narendra Modi taken against corrupt ministers belonging to his own party although much talk had been made that corruption would never be brooked", he asked and referred to the action taken by the BJP to suspend its MP Kirti Azad for making public statements that there was 'corruption' in Delhi District Cricket Association.
On Puducherry government's failure to tackle the situation arising out of floods in Puducherry and Karaikal regions, Narayanasamy said there was no proper enumeration of huts and houses damaged in the flood. Farmers were yet to get relief.
He wanted the government to pay Rs 10,000 for a ration card instead of Rs 4000 now announced by the government.
