Former union minister V Narayanasamy today criticised the puducherry government frequently hiking power tariff hitting power consumers.
Charging the Chief Minister with failure to evolve effective policy to tackle power crisis, he said the previous Congress regime here was taking care of power requirements of the industries and domestic sector.
The gas based power generation plant at Karaikal was functioning without any hindrance in the past. But now the plant was non-functional with the management not being able to purchase the turbine.
Narayanasamy said the hike in power tariff effected frequently was hitting power consumers. Domestic consumers who were levied Rs 300 were now facing a situation of being charged Rs 900 a month. There was also now a move to further hike the tariff, he alleged.
He said the Congress would launch agitations to protest against "anti people" approach of the government.
