69-year-old Narayanasamy, who had served as Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office in the second UPA government and as MoS Parliamentary Affairs in UPA-I, did not contest the May 16 Assembly polls.
A John Kumar of the Congress had vacated the seat to enable Narayanasamy contest a by-election before December 6 deadline for getting elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly.

Senior AICC leader Ghulam Nabi Azad and party in-charge of Puducherry Mukul Wasnik would be campaigning for him soon, Narayanasamy told PTI.
