Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Tuesday urged the Karnataka government to take immediate steps to curb sporadic violence in that state, which has triggered following the Supreme Court's directive on sharing Cauvery river water with Tamil Nadu.

Talking to reporters in Puducherry, he said though Karnataka was releasing water to Tamil Nadu, the attacks on Tamils and their properties in that state deserves condemnation.

"It is indeed a matter of serious concern that Tamils had no protection in Karnataka," he said, adding that he would contact his Karnataka counterpart and request him to ensure protection for Tamils in that state.
